Monfragüe National Park

The Monfragüe National Park is located in the province of Cáceres, between Plasencia, Trujillo and Navalmoral de la Mata. On 1979 It was declared a Natural Park and was done to protect the territory, (native forest and scrub characteristic of the Mediterranean forest), of the eucalyptus plantations that would end up eliminating this environment.

On 1991 was declared a Special Protection Area for Birds, later expanded in May 2004 up to the current ZEPA “Monfragüe and Dehesas del Medio” that includes the 116.160 hectares coinciding with the Peripheral Protection Zone of the National Park.
